In a historic and heartwarming move, the Management of Igbinedion University Teaching Hospital (IUTH), Okada, has approved life insurance coverage for all members of staff—a milestone decision that reflects the hospital’s deep commitment to the well-being and security of its workforce.
The announcement was made following the 112th Regular Meeting of the Hospital Management Committee (HMC), held on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, in the boardroom of the hospital’s headquarters in Okada, Edo State.The high-level meeting was chaired by the Chief Medical Director, Dr. Ya’u Abubakar Gagarawa, who described the approval as a bold and compassionate step toward ensuring that the sacrifices and dedication of IUTH staff are met with tangible support and lasting protection.

The new life insurance scheme, to be executed in collaboration with reputable insurance providers, guarantees financial coverage and peace of mind for employees and their families in the unfortunate event of loss. The decision comes on the heels of recent engagements with stakeholders, including a comprehensive presentation by Orange Insurance Brokers Limited, which provided insight into the benefits and structure of the proposed group insurance scheme.
