IUTH Approves Group Life Insurance for All Staff — A New Dawn in Staff Welfare

Okada, Edo State – April 15, 2025

In a historic and heartwarming move, the Management of Igbinedion University Teaching Hospital (IUTH), Okada, has approved life insurance coverage for all members of staff—a milestone decision that reflects the hospital’s deep commitment to the well-being and security of its workforce.

The announcement was made following the 112th Regular Meeting of the Hospital Management Committee (HMC), held on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, in the boardroom of the hospital’s headquarters in Okada, Edo State. The high-level meeting was chaired by the Chief Medical Director, Dr. Ya’u Abubakar Gagarawa, who described the approval as a bold and compassionate step toward ensuring that the sacrifices and dedication of IUTH staff are met with tangible support and lasting protection.

“This decision is a reflection of the value we place on every single staff member at IUTH,” Dr. Gagarawa stated. “Our employees are the heart of this institution, and it is only proper that we make every effort to secure their future and that of their loved ones.”

To ensure timely rollout, Dr. Gagarawa charged the relevant department of the hospital to swing into action immediately to begin the implementation process without delay. He emphasized that the hospital must move swiftly to translate this policy into reality, assuring staff that management will work closely with the chosen insurance partners for a seamless transition.

The new life insurance scheme, to be executed in collaboration with reputable insurance providers, guarantees financial coverage and peace of mind for employees and their families in the unfortunate event of loss. It marks a major leap forward in IUTH’s commitment to a more secure and inclusive work environment.

The decision comes on the heels of recent engagements with stakeholders, including a comprehensive presentation by Orange Insurance Brokers Limited, which provided insight into the benefits and structure of the proposed group insurance scheme.

News of the approval has been met with widespread excitement and gratitude from staff across departments, with many describing it as a “timely and thoughtful intervention” that will deepen their dedication to service and strengthen morale.

At IUTH, we are not only building a legacy of clinical excellence—we are building a family where everyone matters. This life insurance approval is a bold step in that direction.
