A major wave of strategic restructuring has swept through Igbinedion University Teaching Hospital with the appointment of Adeyemi Onajoke Ebuwa as the new Acting Director of Administration.

The development was announced by the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Ya’u Abubakar Gagarawa, as part of a broader repositioning agenda aimed at strengthening institutional efficiency, enhancing service delivery, and accelerating the hospital’s drive toward rapid development and competitive growth.
Dr. Gagarawa charged the newly appointed officers to bring their wealth of experience to bear in their new responsibilities, stressing that they were carefully selected and highly recommended by both the authorities of Igbinedion University and Igbinedion University Teaching Hospital.
According to the Chief Medical Director, the restructuring exercise is strategically designed to reposition the hospital for greater efficiency, improved healthcare delivery, stronger administrative coordination, and enhanced institutional growth.
Until her new appointment, Onajoke Adeyemi served as Coordinator of the Health Insurance Scheme Unit, where she distinguished herself. Her elevation is being viewed by many within the hospital and the university as a strategic move that signals management’s confidence in experienced hands capable of steering the institution through a new phase of transformation.
Hospital sources described the appointment as “well deserved and timely,” noting that the Acting Director of Administration is expected to play a central role in deepening reforms, improving operational systems, and strengthening synergy between departments.
The restructuring exercise also witnessed key leadership changes across critical units of the hospital. Former Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee, Dr. Z. C. Sule, officially completed his tenure, with management commending his sacrifices, dedication, and immense contributions to the growth and stability of the institution.
Similarly, Dr. G. E. Agbon-Ojeme was appointed Chairman Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC) while retaining oversight as Consultant in Charge of the Benin Centre.
In another significant move, Omoregie Osamuyimen Esq., now assumes responsibilities solely as Director of Legal Services, while media and public relations expert Moses Uyi Osaretin was elevated to the position of Deputy Director, Public Relations, Communications and Strategy.
Observers say the emergence of Adeyemi Onajoke Ebuwa as Acting Director of Administration represents one of the most notable highlights of the restructuring exercise, especially at a time when the hospital is intensifying efforts to reposition itself as a leading tertiary healthcare institution in Nigeria’s South-South region.
