Redefining Birthday Celebrations: IUTH’s Image Maker Impacts Lives With Free Surgical Outreach.

An Uncommon Birthday, A Remarkable Movement Of Kindness

In a world where birthdays are usually celebrated with cakes, music, and parties, Moses Uyi Osaretin—the Chief Administrative Officer and Public Relations Officer of Igbinedion University Teaching Hospital (IUTH), Okada—is choosing a different path for his 50th birthday: one of compassion, healing, and giving back.

To mark his golden jubilee, he has launched an inspiring initiative titled “50 Free Surgeries for 50 Indigent Persons”, using IUTH as the platform to bring this vision to life.

The initiative, which kicked off on July 1, 2025, recorded its first successful surgery—a young lady who had long suffered from uterine fibroids was successfully operated on, free of charge.

And now, in a continuing wave of hope and healing, another notable achievement has been recorded.

On Thursday, July 10th, another family heaved a deep sigh of relief following the successful surgical removal of an ovarian cyst. This second procedure, also performed completely free of charge, is a life-transforming moment made possible by this noble outreach.

“Turning 50 is a blessing—and I wanted to mark it by becoming a blessing to others,” said Moses Uyi Osaretin. “I’m grateful that IUTH, where I serve, is providing the platform for this act of love and service.”

Real People, Real Conditions, Real Impact!

The outreach has already recorded two major successes—a uterine fibroids surgery and an ovarian cyst surgery—with two more operations scheduled for the coming week: one for another case of uterine fibroids, and the other for a hernia patient.

Meanwhile, dozens of others remain on the queue, hoping and praying for their turn as funds become available.
